Dvořák Hall, Rudolfinum, Prague
Bohuslav Martinů's Nonet No. 2 was written directly for The Czech Nonet, which will perform the composition on December 6 in the Dvořák Hall of the Rudolfinum. The Czech Nonet, whose current members are leading Czech performers, is also one of the oldest ensembles in the world and this year marks its centenary of existence. In addition to works by Witold Lutoslawski and J. B. Foerster, the programme also includes Louis Spohr's Grand Nonet, which was performed at the very first performance of the Czech Nonet in January 1924.
The concert is organized in cooperation with the Czech Chamber Music Society.
